Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Held every year at the ParisLongchamp racecourse, the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. France Galop, the event’s organizer, wanted to highlight the participating jockeys through a video capsule released before the race. This content is part of a broader effort to modernize the image of the horse racing world by adopting contemporary sports codes to reach a new audience.

Creative process In the world of horse racing, jockeys are not tied to a specific stable or horse. As a result, the color and pattern of their silks, which represent each stable, can change from one race to another. Therefore, there was a high likelihood that the existing visuals of the jockeys we planned to use for the video would not match the colors of the stables they would ultimately represent. This logistical constraint led us to depict the jockeys in black and white before integrating them into a graphic environment tailored to the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Typography, jockeys, 3D elements, and race footage follow one another and merge into a dynamic presentation of the 17 contenders in the race.

Transitions The participating jockeys and their starting gate positions are revealed three days before the race. It was therefore essential for the produced content to be easily interchangeable and adaptable on short notice. Each jockey’s sequence was designed to work regardless of their order of appearance in the final video. Several transitions were also developed to introduce even more variation in the flow of the sequences.
